"Oh No!!!!! Tsunami warning!!!!!!!" Chapter uno

It was a sunny afternoon as I walked into my office. My shift was over, but I had to get some papers. As I started to leave, I heard a strange noise coming from downstairs. approached the staircase, and the normally bright hallway turned dark. I grabbed my flashlight and went downstairs. The storage room was normal. I went home in my not-prius, pondering about what had happened. i saw a note to myself on the walll, "Get a not-prius", and I had it! Walls! I had never seen the walls of the Storage room, thanks to large boxes. rushed back in my not-prius and went back downstairs. I found a clue to what was making the noise.

U2

There is a cool Irish band called U2. they started in the 80's when their drummer, Larry Mullen Jr., put up a poster to start a new band. several people came to auditions, but he soon had 5 new bandmembers. Their original name was "The Feedback". One of the people never came to practice again, and another one quit, so they only had 4 members. Now they have Bono, Their singer, Adam Clayton, Their Bassist, The Edge, Their Guitarist, And Good 'Ol Larry, Their drummer. The Time Machine

77 The Time Machine

March 9th, 2008
As I watched The Time Traveler disappear, I noticed A piece of paper on his desk. I picked it up and held on to it for three years.
When I thought I should attempt it, I opened the paper. It was a note saying, “I am headed to the year 30584. I shall return in 1935 your time.”
I now realized I would not worry about him or his stuff. I set off at once to his workshop. I rummaged through his papers and found his time machine plans. I set off to start building another.
It was excruciatingly difficult to find all the parts for the levers and pulleys. Seven years later, I had it.
I set the contraption to 30584. I pulled the lever and felt the strangest sensations. Looking out the window, I saw buildings fall and become replaced with futuristic buildings of shiny silver.I saw hovering automobiles. The machine came to a slow stop, and I cautiously dismounted.
In my 19th century clothing, I hardly fitted in. Everybody looked as if they came from space! Looking for a familiar face, I saw red hair.
“Eureka!” I exclaimed out loud, for it was the time traveler! We caught up, him asking how I got here, and why I came, And myself asking myself Why I had ever doubted him about time travel.

78 The Time Machine

As he was telling me about the bizarre weather in the land of the Giant Crabs, he pointed to the west where the sun had been. With that notion, he gave a yelp of horror, as a Giant Morlock was attached to the bottom of a flying car. He calculated in his head that a single Morlock had clung to the time machines underside, away from vision and sunlight. And It was growing huge of the car’s fumes.
It could resist sunlight, as it dropped from the car and chased us. We split up and agreed to meet back in our time. I ran to where I had landed, and several curious passerby were examining and analyzing it. I pushed them down and set the machine back to our time.
I saw the Morlock disappear in a flash as the silvery buildings regained the more rustic look of our time. Once I had dismounted, I went to the time travelers workshop and sure enough, he was here. We were pondering about what had happened. The Morlock was big enough to take down a full-grown elephant. It had most likely taken over the city, But the world may never know.

8th grade project

For 8th grade project, I am going to make an IF game in a city theme. You are going to have a car like K.I.T.T., and It is going to be a very large game. You are going to visit sport stadiums, neighborhoods, encounter shady characters, traverse large canyons, climb trees, travel to the moon, wrestle a bear, set the world record for corn husking, leap tall buildings, get braces, repeat hig school, and rob a bank. although i will not use all these themes, It will still be a very large and good game.

Knight rider

Two weeks ago, I watched the new version of Knight Rider on tv. For those of you who are not familiar with Knight Rider, It is aTV show About a Very hi-tech talking car called K.I.T.T. The person who drives it is named mike and is called the Knight Rider, hence the title. It was originally an '80's TV show. The old mike, (David Hasselhoff) and K.I.T.T (Knight Industries two thousand) drove around solving crimes. In the new one, the new mike and Knight Industries Three Thousand have bigger mysteries to solve. K.I.T.T. has tools like grappel hook, super pursuit mode, and a bullet-proof and indestructable black paint job. The original K.I.T.T. was a chevy, but the new one is is a ford sheby mustang. In the new one, David Hasselhoff plays a cameo and shows up as the new mikes dad.

For the new band concert, March 11th, the 8th grade band is playing Ghost Fleet and Overature for winds. Both songs do a good job bringing out all the parts of all the instruments. Ghost fleet is about the James river reserve fleet coming back to life and heading out to the high seas as ghosts. Overature for winds is a bouncy ensomble and Baritone gets a 4-line solo! As one of the last people in band, I ask you people to come.

Bjorke Bjorke Bjorke Bjorke Bjorke

My interactive fiction is going to be called Bjorke. It will be a strategy-like game where you use tools and hints to get farther. there are going to be several beasts. You must kill them with your sword. You are going to get many tools such as bombs and the ball and chain, both used to break down walls. First you must find and rescue the king and queen, and then find and kill the Main Bad Guy. I would tell you the plot twist, but it would give away to much. You have to play through the game to find out.

Call of the wild essay

American studies

Call of the Wild

I read the legendary novel Call of the Wild, by Jack London, and I really liked it. To help organize my feelings about the book, I will write a 5-paragraph essay about three phases in Buck, the main character/dog’s life.

The first phase in Buck’s life was when he lived at his original owner’s house. His ‘Master’ was a judge simply called Judge Miller. He lived a very relaxing life, and the only work he had to do was protect his yard from neighbor dogs. It was like this until the gardener sold him to two French men seeking fortune from the Alaskan Gold Rush, which leads into the next phase of his life.

As a spoiled dog, Buck did not know how to survive in the harsh arctic. This is why he learned from other dogs. He learned to make a sleeping hole by stumbling into another dog’s. But some things he had to learn from experience, like not to do bad things or he would get whipped. And not to attack Francois and Perrault, or he would get beaten with the club. After he killed spitz, he approached the last transformation into the final phase.

The final phase of Buck’s life, he was a natural leader. He kept everyone in order as lead dog, and led the team through harsh conditions. He never lost a fight, and was very strong. He could even pull a 1000-pound sled! After his favorite owner, John Thornton was killed, he became a dog of the wild. Thus concludes the story of Buck the sled dog.

I Thought that the novel Call of the wild was easily one of the best books I have ever read. I would Highly recommend it to anyone who likes great adventure classics.

Native food paragraphs

Native Americans had many ways of cooking. They baked, boiled, and roasted. They made various soups and stews by boiling. This was done often. When water was scarce, they baked and roasted. They baked things in shallow pits with hot coals around the outside. They wrapped food in wet leaves to prevent burning. When they boiled, to assist with the heating process, they took rocks out of the fire and placed them in the water.

Indians gathered the majority of food from fields, as it was eaten every day. They gathered food such as berries and camas, an onion-like food. When they collected acorns, they usually washed, ground, and used them in bread. When they collected rice, they rode in canoes and grabbed the stalks. They beat it with a mallet until all the rice came out. For sap collecting, Indians set up temporary camps by trees and cu a “V” in each trunk. Then sap dripped into a bucket.

Indians got many new foods from settlers. Indians gave them recipes, while settlers gave them pigs and cows. Indians got dairy products from the settlers, also. Indians used these new ingredients in traditional recipes. Indians also used new ingredients to make fry bread.

Before the horse came, Indians had to be innovative in hunting. They wore wolf masks and chased bison off cliffs to be collected at the bottom. When they hunted small groups of animals, like turkey, they set up small, temporary camps. After the horse came, Indians tamed them. They then mastered horseback hunting. Indians knew the best fishing spots, and came back to them every year. To catch massive amounts of fish, they used nets and weirs. A weir is an underwater fence that fish run into. For catching individual fish, they used harpoons, spears, hooks, and lines.

Along with gathering and hunting, Indians also grew food. They grew sunflowers, corn, beans, squash, chilies, peanuts, and pumpkins. Chilies, however, grew only in the southwest. They almost always grew corn, beans, and squash together. The beans could use the corn for support, while the squash shaded the ground and kept it moist. They roasted their sunflower seeds, then brewed them to make a coffee-like drink. They used their fresh corn kernels in stews.

For the chrismas concert, we are playing sleigh ride, chesnuts on roasting on an open fire, and white chrismas. I have boring parts in all of them, especially sleigh ride. I am the backbeat going doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo for the whole song. in the other ones I have a boring low melody. The concert is on the 11th.
The baritone I have been playing is an old beat-up one. Avi has a nice baritone that she will lend me. Instead of a up-facing bell and valves, It has forward facing valves to fir your hands better. The bell is facing forward so it can project sound better. She is still working on it, but I will get it soon.

Juan Ponce de Leon Claymation and Reflection

Stop Frame Reflection

For My Reflection Essay, I will cover the following topics: The parts that were most fun, most difficult parts, and what I learned.

The part I thought was most fun was making the people, backgrounds, and terrain. I also liked filming it. I liked how instead of making lots of people, we made one do all the parts. It was fun putting them on the computer and arranging them in the right order. When Mitch and I stayed after school, we spent 50 minutes trying to figure out why we could not do recordings. We then realized that our computer did not have a microphone! Then we saved it on the server and accessed it on a microphone computer.

I think that the most difficult part was keeping the characters clean. If you watch our movie carefully, you will notice that in the scenes we filmed first, the characters are clean. In the later scenes, however, our characters are smudged with lots of different colored clay. It was difficult keeping our tiny characters not lost, so they wound up in the middle of the clay bin.

I think that the most important thing I learned was that Juan Ponce De Leon was originally looking for The Fountain of Youth.
It was rumored to make you live for millions of years. He never found it because it did not exist. On his journey, he discovered Florida and was the governor of Puerto Rico for several years.

In conclusion, I think this project was a stressful activity while it was going on. We had to meet due dates with all the scenes. But I also think it was a fun way to learn about our country’s history while sharing work with a worldwide audience.

Firefighters
Daniel Estill
5th period science
I chose a firefighter as my career because it seems like a cool job. The main purpose of a firefighter is, of course, extinguishing fires. A firefighter is also a trained rescuer. Most stations have 24-hour shifts, with about 8 days a month. How cool is that? They go to the station and do training until there is an alarm. Then, they get ready for action!
The basic equipment of a firefighter includes two fire retardant steel soled boots to walk over hot debris, a helmet to protect the head, a face mask to protect the face, a breathing apparatus to breath in smoke, a lock breaker to get into locked buildings, hydraulic rescue tools to pry doors and debris away, smashing tools, such as the axe, and the ever-important flashlight.
Although it may vary between stations, for most, all you need for a job is a high school diploma. If you want to be promoted, however, you need some sort of a college education.
The average salary for a firefighter in Seattle is about $66,132 a year. For other places, like New York, Atlanta, Indianapolis, and Dallas, the pay varies from $41,082 to $44,088.
As a result of my findings, I can conclude that being a firefighter would be very interesting. With Hydraulic tools, lots of action, and strange 24-hour shifts, it sounds exiting.

One time, when I was home alone, I was playing with my cat Maverick (named after the dude from TOP GUN), and he went out onto the little ledge on the outside of each stair (he had to be on the top one!) When I tried to coax him out,he tried to turn around and he slipped and fell. I could not find him for the rest of the day. The next morning, I found him and he was fine.

10.12.2007

Our band teacher kept going on about how we needed more low brass. So, last September 20, I went and tried the baritone. I only tried it because it had the same fingerings as trumpet. I ended up taking it home and practicing the baritone for more than 2 hours. So, in time, I got pretty good. Now I have been playing baritone in band for several weeks, and it is very cool.
